SMS Kelantan as I Remember

This is a collection of stories and old photos of me, friends, teachers and events during my secondary school years (1975-79) at SMS Kelantan, which is now known as Sek Men Sains Tengku Muhammad Faris Putra. The school itself was started in 1973, and moved to the new campus in 1974 (you'll see grassless field in some pix!)

Lilians

Starting in 1976, the girl prefects were put in one dorm instead of being spread out in various dormitories (then, some dorm had more thna one prefect while some had none). The idea of putting them (well, us) together was to facilitate duties and to unify them. Earlier when we were in separate dorms, we tended to be defensive towards our own dorms. There appeared to be some rivalry between prefects too :-)

Staying in the same dorm also made quick discussions/meetings easily carried out. Not to mention those spot checks that we carried out on other dorms!

The chosen dorm was the one on the 2nd floor, at the other end of the toilets. So, we had the furthest trip to the toilet!! Above us used to be the study room, while below us was the warden's room and the Musalla (prayer room).

The name of the dorm was Lily (all dorms were named after flowers. Some that I can still recall are Melati, Angsana, Bakawali, Mawar, Melur, Anggerik, Kenanga and Cempaka. Was there a Kemboja?? not sure...). Before the girl prefects took over, Lily was well known as a very noisy dorm!

As the occupants of the dorm, we call ourselves Lilians. Some of the pix of Lilians will be uploaded later:

i remember that it was the only dorm which has a fan. it's so unfair... everybody else has to sweat in the sweltering heat and the prefects have the cool air. I was in that dorm in 1991 - that time it was for commoners. Years after that it's for prefects again.
